Detach the Islands are a Power Violence Metal band based out of Brooklyn, NY

The Project

The Brooklyn Based metal band commissioned me to create a poster design to promote their debut album, The Burden To Become Fact.

The Solution

The name Detach The Islands comes from the idea of being chained to your demons, wether they be insecurities, trauma, fears, and allowing yourself to 'detach' yourself from them in order to become liberated. This poetic approach influences much of the lyrical content of the band's music, all while being juxtaposed by incredibly abrasive instrumentation. We decided to lean into this idea of beauty within chaos and created a design that was both visually striking and symbolically rich.
