The Client

Birch is an Alternative Pop artist currently based in Los Angeles.

The Project

In 2018 I was commissioned by Birch to design the artwork for her first full length release, "femme.one".

The Solution

The project was a meditation on feminine identity and the struggle for female equality throughout history. After discussing her goals, we developed a visual concept based on old photographs of the artist's mother to symbolize the shared bond of women through struggle and societal pressure. For the second and third singles, "Spelling Lessons" and "Labor Fruit", we utilized a collage style design incorporating desert landscapes and floral structures to symbolize hope and growth in times of isolation.
